WoW Future is Bright with the Latest State of Azeroth

The developers from Blizzard Entertainment took part in the State of Azeroth, sharing glimpses at the future developments in World of Warcraft: Midnight and World of Warcraft: Classic.

WoW: Midnight is almost upon us! The pre-expansion event, The Twilight Ascension, is availablenow and will be running  until the launch of Midnight on March 2. Alliance players can start their journey by talking with Magister Umbric in Stormwind, while the Horde players get to meet Grand Magister Rommath in Orgrimmar in order to proceed. Did you know the two have history and had been friends once?

As a part of the pre-expansion, players have received access to the new Demon Hunter specialization, the new class-race combo (Demon Hunter Void Elves), class and UI changes, transmog enhancements, and much more. You can also take advantage of the Winds of Mysterious Fortune to powerlevel your alts.

Additionally, between January 29 and February 1, brave adventurers who previously had an active subscription can access all expansions, including The War Within and the pre-expansion event, to play the most recent content. Proceed to the official site to learn more about the Welcome Back Weekend.

For a limited time, simply logging into the game while having active subscription or game time will award the Dark Portal Housing decor item.

But let’s talk about what happens after the expansion arrives in March.

During the livestream, the developers promised further updates to come to Housing. The team specifically mentioned companion pets wandering around your home, and maybe being able to hitch a couple of your favorite mounts up in your yard outdoors. Other additions include things like selecting and moving multiple pieces at once along with the ability to copy-paste.

“We’re also continuing to increase indoor and outdoor decor budgets as we learn more about technical limits of the system along with simply wanting to make sure we’re providing opportunities for progression as you level up your house.”

“After a long day of adventure, there’s no place like…well, home.”

Beyond Midnight

  • 12.0.5. – Shortly after the launch of Midnight, patch 12.0.5 will arrive on the Public Test Realm (PTR). This update finds us in the aftermath of the Season One raids.
  • Void Assaults – The threat of Xal’atath has yet to be resolved, so we’re going to see Void Assaults begin to appear across the outdoor world. These will bring new enemies to fight, new reasons to rally to defend Azeroth, and new rewards along the way.
  • Prop Hunt – new co-op prop hunt-inspired event. You’re going to queue up to join a team of five to face off against another small team of five in a location such as Silvermoon City. One team will use illusion to disguise themselves as innocuous props to hide within the environment. The other team will try to seek them out.
  • 12.0.7 – further escalation of Void Assaults and introduces a one boss raid, Sporefall.
  • 12.1 – first major content update for Midnight. It will arrive with a new zone with maximum level content, new raid, and a new season with an updated Mythic+ dungeon Pool, new PvP and Delves rewards, and continued refinements you’d expect from a major content update in World of Warcraft.
  • 12.1.5 – new content type arrives. These are inspired by mega-dungeons. They are large sprawling experiences you can tackle all at once or a bit at a time depending on your own schedule.

“For those who love Delve gameplay but want something more than the bite sized experiences that are currently offered, we’re adding a new feature that we’re currently calling Labyrinths.”
