For World of Warcraft, Xal’atath is a character with the long-existing involvement. From the Shadow Priest artifact weapon in Legion, to the scheming dagger that managed to snatch a new body in BfA and onward, she had always been behind the scenes. That is, until the time to act arrived in The War Within. But even then, we have never really known much about her outside of her being a creature of the Void, punished by the Old Gods.
Enter Xal’atath animation ‘Supremacy’, in which we learn more about her origins. According to the Harbinger herself, once upon a time she used to be a mortal that lost her world, much like the Ethereals. It is that experience and the eternity of torment that taught her that survival is the only thing that matters.
It is easy to dismiss Xal’atath’s voice as a lie, but so far she had never told falsehoods, only lied by ommission by telling people just what they want to hear.
“Midnight is almost here. Xal’atath has united the warring factions of the Void, unleashing a ravenous army that threatens to consume all of Azeroth. Stand and fight, or be consumed.”
