WoW Midnight Outlined QoL Improvements Coming with Update 12.1

The next major content update for WoW: Midnight, Version 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek, is just around the corner. In addition to giving players small lore hints at the things to come through the latest short story, developer Blizzard Entertainment outlined the upcoming QoL improvements.

The update aims to reduce frustrations in everyday play and making common activities easier to follow. Since 12.0.5, the team has been building on player feedback with targeted improvements aimed at enhancing the play experience.

“Recent hotfixes and additional updates in Midnight: Revelations started this work, with Curse of Ula’tek continuing that focus through broader player experience updates centered on clarity, reliability, and fewer interruptions.”

Here are some of the updates you can expect to find in 12.1: Curse of Ula’tek:

Progression, Convenience, and Reward Clarity:

  • One-time profession knowledge reset (once per profession) to reset all spent Knowledge Points and allow players to re-assign them freely.
  • Reduced cost of most Midnight crafted Housing decor so players have more flexibility to build the home they want.
  • Future Voidforge services in Season 2 will be made available in Silvermoon City, so players can access it from a more central location.

User Interface Improvements:

  • Adding the option to display map coordinates in the user interface.
  • Adding account-wide auto-loot settings to make it easier to keep preferred setup options consistent across characters.
  • Auction House filters will persist after closing and reopening the window, helping players get to their previous searches quicker.
  • Adding collapsable groups to the currency tab to better view available currencies at a glance.
  • Adding a back button to the Achievements tab in the user interface.
  • Adding the ‘Loss of Control’ panel to UI Edit Mode.

Notable Bug Fixes:

  • The team has identified a number of recurring patterns that could cause players to become stuck in outdoor world combat far longer than expected. This will not address all of these situations, but it should be far less common in Curse of Ula’tek.
  • The developers have resolved a bug causing transmogrified gear to sometimes be incorrectly displayed on the character select screen.
  • A rare bug where Valeera would sometimes suddenly die in Delves has been fixed.
  • Addressed a bug where players would occasionally be dismounted when flying into Zul’Aman from Eversong Woods.

Quality-of-life improvements often come down to the details. In Curse of Ula’tek and beyond, we’ll continue looking for ways to make World of Warcraft easier to navigate and more enjoyable to play. We deeply appreciate all of your feedback on ways we can improve the World of Warcraft player experience and will continue to make efforts to address these improvement opportunities as they arise.
