Overall, Sony has sold more consoles than Microsoft has since the Next-Gen consoles were launched. However, Xbox has been stepping up its game though for the last couple of quarters. Microsoft is catching up and may soon overtake Sony in console sales.
Microsoft’s Frank Shaw says that the best-selling console in the last 6 months has been the Xbox Series X or S. This counts in certain regions such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and different countries in Western Europe. At the moment the sales numbers aren’t known but I have noticed more and more of these consoles available at online retailers like Walmart and Amazon. Some of them are only bundles and some still continue to be sold above MSRP but they are out there.
Since the end of 2021, PlayStation 5 has had fewer and fewer restocks while the Xbox systems have seen more of these restocks happening. Microsoft has more sales ability to sell their consoles because of this manufacturing situation.
While this is a good situation for Microsoft, there is one thing that keeps popping up around the web. Nintendo. The Switch the best-selling console in the world. While it isn’t part of the next-gen conversation because it’s a previous-gen platform, it is worth noting that Nintendo is making big strides with their console. As of April 29, 2022 they also release the Nintendo Switch Sports game. This will take their sales even higher.
