At the yearly RGG Summit, taking place on 23-24 September, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio announced a long waited remake of the Yakuza 3 — Yakuza Kiwami 3. The game will become a complete remake of the old classic, bringing the familiar adventure to the new levels. Beside the obvious improvements of the graphics and performance, Yakuza Kiwami 3 promises to bring a pack of new content, including an additional story arc.
The new quest line received the title Dark Ties and tells a story of Mine Yoshitaka, the main antagonist of Yakuza 3. The players will witness how the leader of the successful company stepped down the dark path and joined the world of Yakuza. The story will allow taking a look at the familiar plot from another angle and try to understand the motives of the character that players used to see only as a villain.
Meanwhile, the story of Kazuma Kiryu remains the same. After the events of Yakuza 2, he decides to cut the ties with criminal world and start a new life as a head of an orphanage in Okinawa. The life is peaceful, but soon the fight for the lands burst out and Kiryu has to step up to save the orphanage. Once more, he has to fight for what he loves and cherishes.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties will come to PC (Steam), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 on 11 February 2026.
