Developer HoYoverse is back with another story cutscene from Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.7. If you have not finished the main quest, you might want to avoid it due to the spoilers.
“Every tear I shed had brought disaster… I’ve heard too many curses to count. I loathed my tears as much as I despised my own existence. I had roamed too many places, and the results were the same every single time. I didn’t know where I could go anymore…I will rewrite the ending myself.”
Currently ongoing, Version 1.7: Bury Your Tears with the Past further explores the phantom thief faction, Mockingbird, and its two members: Vivian (S-rank Ether Anomaly) and Hugo (S-rank Ice Attack).
Right now, you can spend your polychromes on the debut of Vivian and the first rerun of Jane Doe (S-rank Physical Anomaly). Vivian dances across the battlefield with a parasol and rapier, seamlessly shifting between grounded and aerial attacks. Her Basic Attack: Featherbloom amplifies Anomaly damage and synergizes with allies’ EX Special Attacks to boost the team’s Corruption damage.
In the second phase, Zenless Zone Zero will release Hugo Vlad (S-rank Ice Attack), accompanied by the long-awaited rerun of Lighter (S-rank Fire Stun). Hugo wields a suitcase that transforms into a sharp scythe, carving through enemies with slashes and devastating area sweeps. When hitting stunned enemies, Hugo can trigger the Totalize effect, elevating his damage based on the enemies’ remaining stun duration.
You can also pick up Robin, Mockingbird’s S-rank Bangboo whose abilities change depending on the party composition.
Note that HoYo also already teased characters to arrive in V2.0: Yixuan, Pan Yinhu & Ju Fufu.
