Developer HoYoverse went all-out with the newest trailers for Zenless Zone Zero – Version 2.5, which is available now on PC, consoles, and mobile devices. The update introduced a variety of new features and optimization, new story, new characters (Ye Shunguang and Zhao), and much more. To welcome them, the team shared not one, not two, but five total videos, wildly different in vibe and style. Let’s dive right in!
Ye Shunguang animated short film “If I Could Become Light” that you can find above shows the Thiren going through her daily routine – trying to recall the names, faces and memories associated with people and events in her life that are being stolen away by the Qingming Sword, leaving her to suffer in silence on her own. Detailing the events in her diary only gives her a way to keep her loved ones from worrying, but not to actually address the root cause of the issues.
The EP below demonstrates the girl’s fantasies about a world where she’s just an ordinary student, studying alongside the Proxy siblings. However, even in such idyllic world, Ye Shunguang cannot leave her worries behind and ends up moving away from her friends and their happy lives together.
Finally, the last but not the least, Ye Shunguang’s character demo shows her 50th first date with Wise as the Proxy uses his special eyes to navigate the Hollow while the Thiren jumps into battle against random Ethereals with abandon, wiping them out with the might of the Qingming Sword.
While the action scenes are impressive and explosive, overall the trailer loses out when compared to Miyabi’s or Yixuan’s due to the ordinary enemies and the sentiments repeated over other media with the character. Not to mention, once again, being focused on the Proxy vs Ye Shunguang herself.

Meanwhile, Zhao is living her best life in her EP and demo, and making it everyone’s worst day in the process. Perhaps if Damian knew what was coming, he would have decided to take the fall alongside Porcelumex as well instead of drawing the attention of Krampus Compliance Authority.
Don’t judge the book by its cover, despite her long fluffy ears and cute short frame, Zhao can be a vicious opponent… which is exactly what she’s proven in her demo. Good thing that the Proxy, Dialyn, Banyue and Ye Shunguang are on her good side!
