Every day is the Obol Squad day. After the team’s participation in the events of Version 2.1, developer HoYoverse teases their further involvement in the future version. The playable roster expands with Seed, Obol’s giant robot… and apparently a petite pilot? Stay tuned to find out more once the devs are ready to share.
Seed – S-rank Electric Attack
A cool, destruction-wreaking robot, a cute petite pilot… Say no more! Welcome back, Firefly. Although, judging by the mentions of Seed and Seed Sr. as two separate entities, it might be a situation closer to Svarog and Clara instead.
Seed is the source of Light, Floaty Voice that the Proxy siblings have encountered during the quests of Soldier 0: Anby and Trigger. The community had been up in arms arguing whether Seed is a female-identifying robot or AI like Fairy, or a female pilot. The drip marketing offers some answers at last.
“While Seed Sr. was asleep, I made quite a few modifications to him~ I think… I gave him stealth capabilities in the latest update~ How did I do it, you ask? I just made some adjustments and tweaks by feel~”
Trigger supplies that if you can’t find her, you should check narrow, enclosed spaces or the mechanical storage that she hides in to avoid people. The Obol Squad’s Captain Magus is routinely stuck dealing with the consequences of her team’s actions… Such as Seed breaking the joint operation commander’s ribs (again) but also capturing the rebel leader (and breaking his bones, too) in one fell swoop.
However, an unknown woman gazing at the yellowed medical reports asked Seed Sr. whether a mysterious, dangerous, cold-blooded monster like her is worth risking his life to protect. So who is the real Seed? Is she light-hearted and easygoing? Introverted and shy? Or indifferent and cruel under her cheerful exterior? Stay tuned to find out!
Orphie Magnusson & “Magus” – S-rank Fire Attack
If I got a nickel every time Defense Force had an S-rank Attack character, I’d have 4 nickels. Which isn’t much, but it’s still weird it happened 4 times – Soldier 11, Soldier 0: Anby, Seed, and now Orphie & “Magus”.
The newest addition to Obol Squad coming in V2.2 Phase II consists of cheerful and somewhat clumsy Orphie as well as “Magus”, the squad’s captain that is literally acting as her tail. Where Orphie is shy, Magus is direct and even a tad aggressive, as shown during the Version 2.1 storyline. However, as Soldier 11 points out, the two balance each other, with Orphie being there when it matters (and when it doesn’t, since the two are literally attached at the hip).
A timid, shy girl and a direct to the point of bluntness tail, where had I seen that before…
“Stop staring at those flashy action figure ads! Or I’ll confiscate all those ones you’ve got stashed in your drawer!”
“That won’t do, Captain! Unless you want to wake up tomorrow with pink holsters!”
“Tch… Get me two boxes of gun oil, and I’ll pretend I didn’t see anything.”
“Thanks Captain! You want the Nitro-Fuel flavored ones again, right?”
