Living In My GameSpace: The Lepro B1 AI Smart Bulb Review

User Rating: 8

I’ve come to accept one terrible feature of Living in My GameSpace: not everyone in my house is a fan of RGB. My GameSpace glows with RGB lighting, but every time I try to add more RGB to the rest of the house, everyone else gives me a glare that says I’ve gone too far. And I get it. I love glowing hexagon patterns on the wall and funky LED lamps on my end tables, but not everyone wants that “in your face” experience. Now, thanks to Lepro sending me a box of their B1 AI Smart Light Bulbs, I’m stealthily adding more RGB into other areas of my home, and everyone seems to be on board.

The Lepro B1 AI Smart Bulb

The Lepro B1 AI Smart Bulb comes in single ($9.99), two-pack ($12.99), or four-pack ($23.99) options. Out of the box, the B1 Bulb looks like most other LED bulbs. The bottom portion of the bulb is solid white, while the top portion is translucent white, allowing the internal LED lighting to shine through. The base of the light is fitted with an A19 socket, the standard socket used in most U.S. households.

The Lepro B1 is energy efficient, using a mere 8.5 watts to produce the equivalent of a 75-watt halogen bulb. The Lepro B1 produces up to 1100 lumens, allowing it to shine (literally) across a range of uses. For general lighting, the bulb offers adjustable white tones, from warm yellow to bright daylight (2700K-6500K). The Lepro App provides smooth sliders for brightness and color temperature, making it easy to find the perfect balance.

When it comes to non-white options, the B1 can produce 16 million colors. The B1 delivers vibrant, saturated tones with the same brightness features as the white light. Whether you’re going for a deep blue backdrop or a vivid red accent, the bulb responds quickly to app adjustments and voice commands alike. You can even save your favorite color presets for instant recall.

The real fun begins with the color-changing displays. The Lepro App features Lepro’s AI LightGPM 4 scene creator, which generates dynamic lighting patterns based on your preferences or even your environment. For example, you can create a vibrant “Cyberpunk Lighting” sequence full of green, magenta, and blue hues, or a spooky “Halloween Party” mode with just a few taps or voice input. You can even upload or snap a photo on the fly and let the AI assistant interpret the scene to create the perfect light display.

Using Lepro’s AI LightGPM 4, the app doesn’t stop at a single choice. My Halloween prompt offered a wide variety of options, from solid colors to purple strobe lights to a plethora of Halloween-themed flowing and pulsing scenes. I was able to take one of the displays I liked, make a couple of minor edits, and now I have a display I can go to whenever I want.

The LightBeats Music Sync feature takes things a step further. Using my smartphone’s microphone, the bulbs can pulse and shift in time with your playlist. It’s a great way to take your next holiday party to the next level.

Timers and scheduling options are also built directly into the app, letting you automate your lighting routines, such as fading on in the morning or shutting off at bedtime. I installed some B1 Bulbs into my porch and garage fixtures, and with a few timers, I can flood the front of my house in Halloween colors during peak hours, switch back to a dim white light during the middle of the night, and then automatically turn the brightness back up when everyone is headed to work in the morning.

The app is simple to use, and thanks to compatibility with Google Home, Alexa, and Matter, the B1 integrates seamlessly with broader smart home ecosystems. You can control individual bulbs or entire groups with simple voice commands like, “Hey Google, set the living room lights to purple.”

Final Thoughts

The Lepro B1 AI Smart Bulb is a good alternative to standard bulbs, offering versatility and vibrant color control without a steep price tag. Its wide feature set, ranging from AI-driven scene creation to Matter integration, makes it a flexible option for both newcomers and smart home veterans. Whether you’re using it for daily illumination or jazzing up your holiday party, the Lepro App makes managing timers, colors, and effects a breeze.

The B1 isn’t all glowy RGB, though, and it falls into the same pitfalls as other RGB lighting. For some users, reliance on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi can be off-putting. Many people don’t even realize there are more than one band on their router, which can cause confusion during setup. Read the damn manual, I say, but many consumers want a plug and play setup. It’s sad, too, because moving things off of your main Wi-Fi frees up bandwidth for the things that really need it, like streaming movies and playing games.

My only other issue with the B1 Smart Bulb is that it’s, well, just a bulb. RGB lamps, light strips, and wall displays all offer multiple LEDs. The more LEDs, the more complex and dynamic the scenes that you can create. Like all bulbs, the B1 can only display a single color. It’s fine if you want to set a single tone in your room, but that’s all you can do with it. That ultimately is what it’s supposed to do, and at $6 a bulb, you can’t really ask for more.

Good
  • bright, vibrant colors
  • App is easy to use
Bad
  • Nothing special to make it stand out from competitors
  • Still only connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
  • It's still just a light bulb
