The Most-Anticipated Titles for December 2025

The gaming results for December 2025 have already been summarised, and as expected, there won’t be any major releases ahead of the new year. However, there are still a few projects that could end up on your wish list.

Destiny 2: Renegades

  • Release date: December 2

Sleep Awake

  • Release date: 2 December 2025
  • Platform(s): PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC

Eyes Out, a studio founded by Spec Ops: The Line game director Cory Davis and Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck in collaboration with Blumhouse Games, has announced a new psychological horror video game called Sleep Awake. Known for horror films such as Get Out, Sinister and Paranormal Activity, Blumhouse promises to bring its signature atmosphere of fear to the video game format.

The game is set in the last city on Earth, where people are disappearing in their sleep. Players control Katya, a girl trying to survive in this terrifying world by facing horrific events and solving puzzles. The main danger is the temptation to fall asleep: every dream could be your last, and the line between reality and imagination gradually blurs.

The creators promise an atmosphere of tension and psychological horror where every decision matters. Combining a dystopian setting, psychological intrigue and survival elements, Sleep Awake is set to appeal to horror fans and those looking for an unusual gaming experience. Even during the holiday season, the studio offers players the chance to immerse themselves in a world of anxiety and unknown fears — the perfect game for fans of terrifying adventures.

Routine

  • Release date: 4 December 2025
  • Platform(s): PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Routine, a game developed by Lunar Software, transports players back to the spirit of 1980s sci-fi horror. Set in an abandoned lunar station, the game sees players navigating treacherous environments where danger lurks around every corner. Players must help the protagonist survive aggressive combat machines, explore empty corridors and unravel the causes of the disaster that engulfed the complex.

This first-person action game incorporates survival elements. The hero is vulnerable and engaging in open combat with superior enemy forces can be deadly. Therefore, running and hiding is not just a tactical choice, but a way to stay alive. Armed with a multifunctional tool designed for exploration and puzzle-solving, players can also use it as a last-ditch defence mechanism.

Routine combines a futuristic setting with an ’80s atmosphere, creating a unique labyrinth of ghostly corridors where psychological terror takes precedence over pure action. The game emphasises the ‘vulnerable protagonist’, forcing players to approach each enemy encounter strategically. Every decision is a fight for survival, and open combat is a last resort.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

  • Release date: 4 December
  • Platforms: NS, NS2

The latest instalment in the Metroidvania series features first-person shooter elements. Players control the main character, Samus Aran, who must explore a vibrant and picturesque planet with diverse biomes, including jungles, glaciers, volcanoes, and deserts. Hidden within these biomes are high-tech complexes and laboratories that hold many puzzles and mysteries, including the mystery of a long-lost civilisation. The main enemy is Sylux, who commands an army of space pirates. In order to emerge victorious, the heroine can use a powerful beam and rockets, transform into a morph ball, and utilise ‘psionic’ abilities, such as controlling energy flows, activating mechanisms, and changing the trajectory of the beam with the power of her mind.

Your journey will take you through nine circles of hell, populated by sinners and featuring sharp turns, all accompanied by the soul-stirring music of Blood Cultures. As you progress, you will crash and burn many times, only to be reborn. The key to victory lies in humility and a flawless riding style. Unbeatable

  • Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Originally scheduled for release in November, Unbeatable was delayed to December 9. The rhythm-adventure game is set in a dystopian world where music is illegal, and you need to commit some musical crimes–sort of like an anime-inspired Footloose. The game follows the story of Beat and her band as they go on the run, and there’s an entire album of original tracks to tap your foot as you break the law.

Ashes of Creation

  • Release date: December 11
  • Platforms: PC

Ashes of Creation is a modern MMORPG set in a living, reactive world where every player’s action impacts the game environment. Terminator 2D: No Fate

  • Release date: 12 December
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2

It was postponed from last month. The game was originally scheduled for release on 26 November. It is possible that this will be the final date. It is an arcade action platformer with a stylish pixel aesthetic based on the cult film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Players can expect a dynamic adventure in which they can control several key characters — Sarah Connor, her son John, and the legendary T-800 — simultaneously. Each character has their own gameplay features, combat techniques and unique episodes. You will relive iconic scenes from the film, such as escaping from a psychiatric clinic, chasing each other in a truck, and shooting it out in abandoned industrial areas, culminating in the final battle at a steel mill. However, the events of the game may unfold differently — the outcome of each encounter, and the future fate of the characters, depends entirely on your skills, reactions and the correct use of your chosen hero’s abilities. This is not just an adaptation of the film — it’s your chance to rewrite the legend in your own way.

Star Trek: Infection

  • Release date: December 11
  • Platforms: Meta Quest 3, PlayStation VR2

Virtual reality (VR) might just be the final frontier for Star Trek, and this new game will take the franchise in a bold new direction: survival horror. Set inside a derelict Defiant-class spaceship overtaken by an unknown entity, you must manage the infection aboard the ship and within your own Vulcan body. You can use Starfleet medical equipment, such as a tricorder, to treat your condition. Alternatively, you can embrace the virus and harness the power of your mutations to unlock powerful, yet unstable, abilities. Logic dictates that you must make a rational choice.

Code Violet

  • Release date: 12 December
  • Platforms: PS5

It’s been another move since November. Code Violet is a horror action film with strong survival elements. After a mysterious global cataclysm destroyed most of humanity, the survivors were forced to move to another planet — a harsh, unfamiliar, and truly dangerous world. However, this new refuge brought tragedy: people lost the ability to have children, and civilisation was on the verge of complete extinction. In a desperate attempt to survive, scientists resorted to extreme measures — time travel. Their plan is simple yet cruel: to kidnap women from the past and use them as surrogate mothers. One of these victims is the film’s protagonist, Violet Sinclair. From now on, her goal is to not only escape this alien world but also survive its many threats. She will face tense battles with armed pursuers and gangs from the future. But beyond human settlements lie even greater terrors: predatory dinosaurs, mutated life forms, and aggressive creatures that see humans as nothing more than prey. Sometimes you will have to fight, and sometimes you will have to flee, but you must always act cautiously and calculate every step. This is a story about the struggle for freedom and the fear of the unknown, and how far humanity will go when on the brink of extinction.
