May 2026 is here, bringing with it a month of holidays, nice weather and a wide variety of new releases, ranging from action and racing games to horror and strategy titles. Many of these will only be available via early access, but they’re still worth checking out.
Dead as Disco
- Release date: May 5
- Platforms: PC (Early Access)
In the action-packed musical game Dead as Disco, players take on the role of a legendary—but deceased—drummer who must battle the malevolent idols of millions. They’ll fight to the beat of popular and classic tunes to suit every taste. Attack and dodge in time with the music to earn bonuses and take down local enemies and bosses with greater flair. Do all this to ultimately uncover the secret of your own demise.
Mixtape
- Release Date: May 7
- Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2
This adventure game feels more like an interactive animated movie in the style of cartoons from the 2000s. The story follows three friends on their last night before graduating from high school, when their world transforms into a kaleidoscope of nostalgic memories. Here, music isn’t just background noise; it’s a storytelling tool. Performing actions in time with the songs changes the scene and the characters’ memories. In terms of gameplay, it’s literally a nostalgia simulator — the mechanics are as simple as possible (skateboarding, taking photos, and setting off fireworks), but this game isn’t really about gameplay — it’s about emotions.
Directive 8020
- Release date: May 12
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC
The creators of Until Dawn and The Quarry are releasing a new installment in their horror anthology series, The Dark Pictures. In Directive 8020, players will venture into space, where they’ll encounter an alien that can not only kill, but also disguise itself as humans — specifically, members of the crew of the colony ship Cassiopeia.
The developers promise a dark, cinematic horror experience that is both beautiful and filled with paranoia. You can play through the horror alone or with friends, but beware of sudden QTEs and tense stealth moments. However, if things don’t go according to plan, gamers will be able to replay specific scenes, rewind time, and do things completely differently. It remains to be seen how successful this approach will be in a game where every decision can have a huge impact.
Outbound
- Release date: May 14
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, PC
The cozy adventure game Outbound was originally set to launch in April, but the developers decided to take their time to iron out any issues. In Outbound, players will explore a vast, beautiful open world, constructing buildings, researching new technologies, and improving their surroundings. They will also travel in a cute electric van.
This new title looks set to be a pleasant, meditative game that can be enjoyed alone or with friends. I’m sure the developers at Outbound will release a beautiful, polished game — we can’t wait for it in just a couple of weeks!
Corsairs – Battle of the Caribbean
- Release date: May 18
- Platforms: PC
However, if you’re more drawn to the majestic sailing ships of the past, you should check out Corsairs: Battle of the Caribbean. Taking inspiration from the legendary corsairs, the game’s creators have crafted their own Caribbean adventure, featuring the rivalry between the major powers of the time: Great Britain, France, Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands. Each power has its own goals and unique features. And don’t forget about the ever-present pirates!
Players can look forward to story-driven campaigns, isometric tactical naval battles, and land-based combat, as well as a variety of ships, ammunition, and soldiers. Upgrade your settlements and ships, expand your fleet, and build your influence to achieve your goals.
Forza Horizon 6
- Release date: May 19
- Platforms: Xbox Series, PC
Fans of high speeds and Eastern culture will soon embark on a journey to conquer Japan. This is where the action of Forza Horizon 6 will take place, with players exploring five diverse biomes featuring picturesque landscapes, winding roads, small towns, and modern cities such as Tokyo. You’ll be tearing up the local roads in over 550 cars!
Critics who have published previews of the game have been thrilled by what they have seen. We hope that the full version will delight critics and casual gamers alike. For now, Forza Horizon 6 will only be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC (system requirements), but from late 2026, you’ll also be able to race on PlayStation 5.
Thick As Thieves
- Release date: May 20
- Platforms: PC
Warren Spector, the legendary game developer who produced System Shock, created Deus Ex, and helped develop the first Thief, is releasing a new stealth-action game. Thick as Thieves follows a daring crew of thieves as they steal valuable artifacts and uncover the secrets of a Scottish town in an alternate 1910s setting.
The game, which blends magic with technological progress, received high praise in its preview. Originally focused on PvPvE, Thick as Thieves is now dedicated to single-player or co-op play with a friend. We’re looking forward to an engaging stealth-based story full of dark twists and turns, and heart-stopping moments that will make our hearts beat even faster with joy.
Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core
- Release date: May 20
- Platforms: PC (Early Access)
Another game in early access — and certainly not the last — is Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. This cooperative adventure shooter features roguelike elements and sees space-faring dwarf miners battle an alien threat in procedurally generated caves.
Originally conceived as an expansion for Deep Rock Galactic, this standalone game has outgrown its origins due to its ambitious scope and scale. Originally scheduled for release in late 2025, the extra time has undoubtedly helped the developers achieve their initial goals. We’re looking forward to the Early Access release and future updates!
Zero Parades: For Dead Spies
- Release date: May 21
- Platforms: PC
The developers of Disco Elysium have finally announced the release of their new game, Zero Parades: For Dead Spies. Although the story has been written by a different team, the game retains the visual style and gameplay features of its predecessor.
The story of Zero Parades: For Dead Spies follows a troubled female spy who wakes up one day in an unfamiliar room next to her deceased partner, attempting to comprehend the situation. Through interaction with others, changing clothes, analyzing the situation, and listening to the voices in her head, the heroine will make decisions that will affect both the plot and her state of mind. She’ll take risks, hoping for success, but frequently facing setbacks.
Gallipoli
- Release date: May 21
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC
The game Gallipoli will transport players to the Middle East during the First World War, where some significant but lesser-known clashes between British and Ottoman soldiers took place. The game is being developed by a studio with experience releasing World War I shooters, which will undoubtedly help the team create a polished product.
The Gallipoli developers promise modern graphics and historically accurate environments and weapons. The battles are designed to be realistic and will take place in a variety of locations. Players and AI-controlled soldiers will fight on opposing teams.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
- Release Date: May 22
- Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch 2
This is a cooperative action-adventure game inspired by the stories of legendary heroes, from Batman Begins to the climax of The Dark Knight Rises, all rendered in a unique brick-style. As well as sparkling humor and building puzzles, you’ll encounter the dark and vast world of Gotham City, where certain locations turn the experience into a genuine horror show — as much as that’s possible in LEGO style, of course!
You can travel around in the Batmobile or on the Batcycle, cling to walls with a grappling hook, or glide on your cape. As well as Batman, you can control Jim Gordon, Batgirl, Robin, Catwoman, and other characters, each of whom has skills and weapons to match their persona. In between exploring the city, fighting, and solving puzzles, you can relax in the Batcave, where you can unlock costumes, vehicles, and trophies as you progress.
Romestead
- Release date: May 26
- Platforms: PC (Early Access)
The Roman Empire lies in ruins. A mysterious cataclysm has transformed the local population into ‘wandering husks’. It is now up to the protagonist to decide if this once-great nation will be reborn. Players must battle monsters, gather resources, research technologies, and establish new settlements.
They will be responsible for constructing buildings, keeping citizens happy, and expanding the new state. As you progress, battles against regular enemies and bosses will become more difficult, so you will need better armor, a sharper sword, and it would be best to have the ancient Roman gods on your side.
007 First Light
- Release date: May 27
- Platforms: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC
In 007 First Light, we follow the early years of James Bond, before he earned his reputation as one of MI6’s finest agents. Initially, the hero embarks on missions across the globe, and eventually uncovers yet another conspiracy. In the process, he establishes himself as a spy, fighter, marksman, driver of the world’s finest cars, and ladies’ man.
In terms of gameplay, there will be a mix of stealth, allowing you to complete missions discreetly without raising the alarm, and thrilling shooting and action scenes in the style of Uncharted. So, we can look forward to stunning visuals and exciting cinematic moments.
