Towards The Pantheon – A 16 Bit RPG Adventure

You awaken and are immediately thrown into a journey that will test your skill and your wits. Your goal is to head towards the pantheon and save your world in this lighthearted, fun, dark, and painful adventure game. Follow us as we enter this 16-bit world full of talking cats and humanoid animal enemies. This is our review for Toward The Pantheon.

Developed and Published by O.R.T.Linning, Towards the Pantheon is a game that will bring you into a unique world full of crazy wildlife. Your main character’s name is Freyja, and she is a blond heroine in this game, because who doesn’t like blond viking women in lead roles? She was summoned by her village chief to take on this mission to defeat the Sworn Light. The Sworn Light are the bad guys in this one, and they are trying to take over the entire world while everyone else fights each other. This is where your mission begins and you begin your epic journey of discovery and freedom for your country from the Sworn Light.

The character models are very well-designed, whether you are looking at your heroes or the enemy NPCs. You have creatures ranging from ghosts to walking, talking cats. One thing that isn’t in this game are the normal things for an RPG, elixirs, elves, inns, things like this are completely missing. The changes in this game are more hilarious, like riding hamsters, searching the world for dead memories to increase your stats, eating sushi, and other things of this nature.

The battle system in this game is simple but fun. It is a standard turn-based battle style that allows you to attack with three different weapon types that are standard for your character. You have a sword, an ax, and a bow. All of these take energy points to use and will run out quickly based on the stronger attack types. The sword is the lowest level and you can use this a lot, the ax is the strongest and largest and the bow, well it’s about mid-range for the weapon stats. These are all upgradeable as you go throughout the game. Each different companion that you pick up along the way will have their own abilities as well and I won’t spoil them for you.

There are over 10 hours of gameplay, which include sidequests and other secrets for you to discover. You will have times during your playthrough where it will be necessary to switch from one character to another, which you can do easily in the game, and use their size or abilities to master the world around you. The game is filled with a beautiful soundtrack including over 65 different pieces of music. There are collectible cards that you can find throughout the world to be able to use in battle against your enemies as well. The world is also full of more than 10 regions ranging from kitty cities to snow lands, to haunted mansions.
