Developers from Handsum studio and publisher Playsim revealed the release date of the indie puzzle platformer MotionRec. The atmospheric game about the adventures of a cute pixel robot starts on 27 October 2025. However, it’s not a common puzzle platformer. Progression through the levels is built around recording the actions and playing them backward to overcome obstacles.
MotionRec tells the story of the civilization-recording robot Rec, who travels through the world’s ruins. His goal is to restore the records of the extinct civilization. However, the world isn’t entirely empty. As the organic life forms disappeared, the machines took over the vacant space. Now, Rec has to face many dangers and obstacles in his routine, but noble mission.
The key mechanic of the game is motion recording. The players can record any movements and replay them at any time they need. MotionRec brings a flexible strategy to the puzzle platformer genre. From common jumps and walking to complicated combinations with the usage of the environment, the players can use their creativity to progress through levels. However, the recording capacity isn’t endless. As soon as Rec touches the ground, the system resets. The players will have to think carefully to beat the most complicated levels and uncover all the secrets the developers prepared for them.
